PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - Staff Sgt. Gary Miles, 43, of Kingswood, Texas, instructs students and Boy Scouts how to properly lower and fold the U.S. flag during a flag-retirement ceremony earlier today. The ceremony was part of a Veteran's Day Observance at the Catherine A. Dwyer School in Rockaway that had been postponed from its original date due to Tropical Storm Sandy. Miles, a chaplain's assistant at Picatinny Arsenal, said a Cub Scout leader had instilled the importance of Veteran's Day into him when he was about the same age as the scouts who assisted him today. A Veteran's Monument was also unveiled and dedicated during the ceremony. It was placed at the school's flag pole.
