CLEMSON UNIVERSITY, S.C.- Lt. Col. Todd Liebig, commander of 391st Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade, 412th Theater Engineer Command, and senior leaders from his battalion took advantage of a recent visit here to strengthen teambuilding, Leadership Development Program, and cadet recruiting efforts to fill 'lieutenant' shortages across the command.

Liebig and 30 of his Soldiers also marched during the Military Appreciation Day parade and were later honored for their service during halftime of the Virginia Tech-Clemson University football game.

"In addition to much improved HHC/FSC APFTs and individual soldier training this weekend at my headquarters, we had a successful internal teambuilding and external officer recruiting event this Saturday afternoon at Clemson University," noted Liebig in an email to Brig. Gen. Lewis G. Irwin, commander, 926th Engineer Brigade, 412th Theater Engineer Command.

Liebig also thanked Lt. Col. Mullinax and his Fightin' Tiger Battalion for the invitation to be a part of their special day, and a chance to engage and energize continued dialogue on cadet recruitment to meet 391st mission.

"Appreciate anything you or your staff can do to help identify high performance potential officers with a passion to lead our soldiers. I pledge that we'll challenge them, and continue to coach, teach, mentor and capitalize on the great foundation your team develops through your ROTC programs," said Liebig.

He also pointed to recent dialogue with Lt. Col. Barry Hale, Recruiting Operations Officer at the University of South Carolina, in a concerted effort to establish ties with some of the other universities in the 391st footprint, to include USC, UNC-Charlotte, Duke and others.

"We have a mix of combat and construction engineer units with plenty of opportunity for sharp, motivated emerging junior officers that can shoot, move and communicate, and lead by example," said Liebig.
