Kimbrough announces mass influenza vaccination dates

FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. (Aug. 24, 2012) -- Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center has announced the schedule for its 2012-2013 mass influenza vaccination campaign.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone 6 months and older be vaccinated against the flu each year.

Active-duty service members will receive their vaccination during their scheduled Soldier Readiness Processing at the McGill Training Center ballroom, 8452 Zimborski Ave. from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 and Oct. 22-26.

Department of Defense civilian employees, military retirees, and the family members of military retirees and active-duty service members can receive the immunization at McGill Training Center, classroom 6, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 9-12, Oct. 15-17 and Oct. 29-31.

Military retirees and their adult family members can also be vaccinated during Retiree Appreciation Day at McGill Training Center on Sept. 28. For more information about this scheduled immunization, call Megan Hayden at 301-677-8695.

Defense Information School staff and students will receive their vaccination on Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Oct. 2 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Eligible military healthcare system beneficiaries who miss one of the above scheduled immunizations will be able to receive the vaccine at the Allergy and Immunization Clinic at Kimbrough from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Kimbrough has not announced when the vaccine will be available at the clinic.

Unless contract personnel are eligible as part of one of the beneficiary categories listed above, contractors will provide influenza immunizations to their employees.
