ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. -- Maj. Gen. Michael Terry, Commanding General, U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command, visited Anniston Army Depot and the local community July 23, 2012.
This was his first visit to the installation since assuming command in June.
The day began with an installation familiarization briefing presented by the depot commander, Col. Timothy Sullivan and various directors and special staff.
Numerous topics were discussed, to include dialogue on the depot's internal infrastructure investments, public private partnering, and future initiatives.
He toured various parts of the Nichols Industrial Complex, to include the Combat Repair Facility, where combat vehicles are disassembled and reassembled; the Powertrain Flexible Maintenance Facility, where employees in a green environment repair reciprocating engines; and the new Small Arms Repair Facility, which encompasses weapons and component disassembly and reassembly areas and an indoor firing range for testing and accuracy firing operations.
During the tour, Terry spoke with member of the depot's workforce. He expressed his appreciation for their continued support.
He emphasized that our commitment is for continued support to our military forces here and around the globe.
"I'd always wanted to see the depot that repairs combat vehicles," said Terry. "I've spent a lot of time in theater and combat and had heard of Anniston, but this is a personal highlight for me. It's vital for our Army and for our country."
