Class of 2012 Kessler 6th graders make their 'Rite of Passage' with ceremony

FORT STEWART, Ga. - The 6th grade class at Fort Stewart's Kessler Elementary School marked their transition to the 7th grade with their annual Rite of Passage ceremony, May 24.

Words of encouragement from Colonel Kevin Milton, Fort-Stewart Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Commander, were focused on the changes the students would be facing, starting from their summer vacation right up until they begin their new grade.

"Enjoy the summer, play, spend time with your parents," said Col. Milton. "With every transition, comes anxiety; however, you can look forward to additional academics, new after school activities, and of course new friends."

The superintendent of South Carolina/Fort Stewart/Cuba District was also on hand to share her enlightenment to the class.

"You are resilient because you are militaryDr. Ingram continued, "Reach for the stars as there will never be another transition like this one."

Principal of Kessler Elementary School, Dr. Djuna Underwood expressed her thanks to the parents of the 6th graders. To the students, she said, "Be proud of everything you have done this year and realize that opportunities come from within."
