CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait -- Command Sgt. Maj. Gerald L. Tyce, senior enlisted advisor, 160th Signal Brigade and native of Charleston, S.C., transferred responsibility to Command Sgt. Maj. Arthur T. Swingler, native of Chambersburg, Pa., in a Change of Responsibility Ceremony Mar. 5.
The 160th is responsible for communications across Southwest Asia, Tyce explained.
"It's been a great mission because the warfighters rely on us to put those communications in place," Tyce stated.
As Tyce reached the end of his mission, he conveyed his feelings to the Soldiers and civilians of the 160th, as well as distinguished guests.
"Today I stand before you, humbled to have been able to serve with the 160th," said Tyce.
He went on to speak highly of the unit as well as the personnel who made the mission possible.
"Every person in this organization was a valuable part of the team," Tyce stated. "Each and all of you enabled this organization to accomplish its mission. I say thank you from the bottom of my heart."
After praising the personnel of his command, Tyce turned his attention to his replacement.
"Command Sgt. Maj. Swingler, welcome to the team. I wish you the best as you transition," Tyce said.
Swingler accepted Tyce's remarks and had some thanks of his own.
"Command Sgt. Maj. Tyce and the leaders of the 160th have provided my family and me with the support necessary to make this transition truly outstanding," Swingler stated.
After his acknowledgements, Swingler turned his attention to the personnel of the 160th.
"I am truly proud to be here and am ready to serve," said Swingler. "I am optimistic of the mission before us and I look forward to continuing to build this dynamic team of teams."
Swingler stands ready to lead the 160th into the future by maintaining the priority of building and maintaining multiple complex communications networks and providing first class customer service to the user, he said.
