FORT BRAGG, N.C. - The 16th Military Police Brigade, in conjunction with the Fort Bragg Provost Marshal Office, will be sponsoring a month-long campaign of drunken driving awareness and prevention for the installation in March.

"Drunk driving is irresponsible, it is a career ender, and it endangers everyone on the road," said Col. Chad B. McRee, commander of 16th MP Bde. and director of Emergency Services for Fort Bragg.

"We must educate our Soldiers and their Families, along with the entire community, that driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is against the law and the consequences are life changing," added McRee.

The campaign goals include an overall reduction in DUI incidents; raising public awareness of professional and personal consequences; and to further ensure the safety of the Fort Bragg community.

There will be visible reminders of the dangers of drunken driving through the display of cars wrecked in DUI related crashes, public service announcements on Bragg media outlets, and weekly articles on the subject in the Paraglide.

The Harnett and Johnson county chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving will also be on hand to educate the public about the dangers of drunken driving and share their stories.

The brigade will also be hosting the "Save A Life Tour" during the last week of March. This tour will feature a multi-million dollar, drunken driving simulator that will be on hand at five unit locations March 26 through 30.
