RICHMOND, Va. (Jan. 11, 2012) -- First Lady Michelle Obama spoke to Soldiers and civilians gathered at Virginia Commonwealth University's Singleton Center for the Performing Arts to announce a joint initiative to enhance support for military members and veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury and Post -Traumatic Stress Disorder. The iniative boasts new efforts to enhance education, pursue groundbreaking research, share information and best practices among various colleges and universities. The initiative is a part of the First Lady's Joining Forces program that seeks to mobilize all sectors of society to support military personnel, veterans and their families. Roughly 200 Fort Lee Soldiers were invited to the announcement and one Soldier, Spc. Cedric Holland, spoke to the audience about his wartime experiences.
