FORT STEWART, Ga. - Friends and Family of the Soldiers assigned to the 24th Ordnance Company, 87th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 3rd Sustainment Brigade, Third Infantry Division, received an early Christmas present at the Newman Fitness Center, Dec. 6, as the last of the unit returned home after a four-month deployment to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn.

"This is the best Christmas present I've ever received," said Alisha Ramon, whose husband, Spc. Cody Ramon, was one of approximately 50 Soldiers who returned home. "We're so excited for him to be home and safe and now we finally get to have a real wedding and get everything started; first thing he wants to do though is get a big steak and have a hot shower."

The Soldiers of 24th Ord. spent their time in Iraq successfully shutting down an ammunition supply point in preparation for the upcoming withdrawl from the country as ordered by President Barack Obama.

"Everything went as planned," said Spc. Adam Wagner, an ammunitions specialist with the 24th Ord. Co., 87th CSSB, 3rd Sustainment Bde., 3rd Inf. Div. "We went in and did everything we were supposed to do, and the mission was a success."

Specialist Wagner received an even bigger surprise when he looked into the bleachers to see his wife holding a sign telling him she was expecting a baby girl. Although he knew she was pregnant before he left, the news of what his wife would be having was an added surprise.

"I'm so excited," Spc. Wagner said. "That's all I've been thinking about since I left and it was great to find out like this."

Now that the Soldiers are home safely they will spend the next few weeks taking steps to reintegrate with Family and friends before taking some well-deserved leave and spending the holidays with their loved ones.
