A proven asset to the noncommissioned officer corps contingency contracting team, Staff Sgt. Jose Santamaria excels at leadership by example.

He is assigned to the Mission Contracting Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., part of the Mission and Installation Contracting Command.

There, Santamaria works alongside Army contracting professionals to help execute the MICC's mission to plan, integrate, award and administer contracts in support of Army commands, direct reporting units, U.S. Army North and other organizations to provide the best value for the mission, Soldiers and their families.

A geospatial analyst prior to his reclassification, Santamaria recently completed the Senior Leaders Course as its distinguished honor graduate. In addition, he has garnered recognition as honor graduate of the Army Acquisition Intermediate Contracting Course and has made the Commandant's list at the Army Acquisition Basic Course.

"There is no better job than providing an immediate impact to the mission success and to the quality of life of your fellow brothers and sisters-in-arms," Santamaria said.

Always leading by example, the 12-year veteran is currently pursuing his bachelor's degree in business management.
