Army chief of staff visits Soldiers in South Korea

YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea, July 29, 2011 -- U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Martin E. Dempsey visited Soldiers, civilians and families in South Korea July 28 - 29.

The Army's top general and his wife Deanie Dempsey participated in a town hall meeting July 29 at Camp Humphreys, the future headquarters of U.S. forces in South Korea.

Earlier at Yongsan Garrison, Dempsey met with U.S. Army Gen. James D. Thurman, commander of United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command and U.S. Forces Korea; Eighth Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. John D. Johnson and other senior South Korean and U.S. officials.

Nominated to be the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dempsey has served as Army chief of staff since April 2011.
