Wounded veterans in need of assistance are often confused by the variety organizations with aid available to them. The U.S. Army Military District of Washington’s Army Air Operations Group (AAOG) is attempting to eliminate some of that confusion.
Captain Jim Palmersheim, managing director - veterans' initiatives for American Airlines highlighted some of the corporate and private efforts to assist members of the military and their families at the AAOG senior leader conference July 12, 2011.
"There are many private organizations out there that are doing lots of great things for our Wounded Warriors in our area as well as the WWII Veterans," said Lt. Col. Harold Hinton, deputy commander, AAOG. "We wanted to have Jim come in and inform us of what is out there for our veterans, so we could help pass that information along to those who need it."
Palmersheim is an American Airlines Captain and former Army fixed wing and helicopter pilot. He presented videos and contact information on not only veterans assistance programs in the D.C. area, but worldwide. His company's charitable efforts include supporting Wounded Warriors and Veterans with programs like Snowball Express, Air Compassion for Veterans Program and the Gary Sinise Foundation.
"I have the best job in the world," said Palmersheim. "I get to go out and tell the greatest group of people I know, our Veterans, what is available to them."
