FORT STEWART, Ga. - In the early morning hours of June 29, Soldiers with the 731st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company returned to their Families in a ceremony at Fort Stewart, June 29.
Despite the time and humid temperatures, the Family Members and fellow Soldiers showed up to cheer on their Soldiers returning home.
Some made signs to welcome home their troops and many cried as they waited for the reunion after a year apart.
“You’ve performed your mission with honor and distinction,” said Col. Kevin Milton, Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield garrison commander, who was on hand to greet the Soldiers and thank them for what they did. “Your nation, Fort Stewart, and these folks sitting here are glad to have you home.”
Sergeant Ashley Grant-Noah serves as an administrative specialist with the unit and returned that night with her fellow Soldiers.
Surrounded by friends and Family, she said happy to be back.
“It’s awesome,” Sgt. Grant-Noah said. “It’s been an experience. This is my first time with the EOD community. The Soldiers did a wonderful job. Thank God we came home safely.”
