Dedication, motivation, honor and pride reflect the excellence of two driven Soldiers of the Third Infantry Division as they joined other Soldiers from across the nation to be honored by The Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association Medals for Distinguished Achievement in a formal ceremony at Radisson Hotel in Columbia, S.C., June 10.

The announcement of awards usually takes place during the Adjutant General’s Corps National Ball at Fort Jackson, S.C. With over 700 guests in attendance, the Ball was relocated to the Radisson Hotel in Columbia.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Yolondria Dixon-Carter, Division Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, won Adjutant General’s Corps Warrant Officer of the Year. She received the LTG Timothy J. Maude Medal for Distinguished Achievement.

Specialist Alysya Noakes, 3rd Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Sustainment Brigade, won Adjutant General Corps Soldier of the Year. She will be honored the SGM Larry Strickland Medal for Distinguished Achievement.

“[Specialist Noakes] always takes responsibility higher than her grade,” said Sgt. Felecia Gaston, 3rd STB, 3rd Sustainment Bde., and Spc. Noakes supervisor. “She is a hardworking Soldier, eager to learn her job and always asks questions.”

The winners of the Adjutant General’s Corps mark another great accomplishment for the Fort Stewart community. Last year’s Adjutant General’s Corps Warrant Officer of the Year recipient was Chief Warrant Officer Pamela Rogers, then in DHHB, 3rd ID.

The Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association Medals for Distinguished Achievement tribute began following the events of Sept. 11, 2011. In memory of senior Adjutant General leaders who were killed in the Pentagon, the Executive Counsel of the Association approved two medals in honor of Lt. Gen. Timothy Maude and Sgt. Maj. Larry Strickland, stated the Association’s web site.

The criteria for nomination eligibility include:

• One page summary demonstrating comprehension of LTG Timothy J. Maude (for Warrant Officers) and SGM Larry L. Strickland (for Soldiers)

• Recommendation narrative from nominee’s support channel

• Army Physical Fitness Test (require a minimum of 90 points in each event)

• Officer Record Brief
