YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea - A U.S. Army civilian here was selected as the 2011 winner of the National Image, Inc., Meritorious Service Award.

Ronnie Fisher, a 1st Signal Brigade senior engineering advisor with the 251st Signal Detachment, received the award his efforts with the Workforce Recruitment Program in 2009 and 2010.

The National Image Award honors military members and Department of Defense civilians who embody the core values of their service or agency.

An initiative that provides summer internships to students with disabilities, the Workforce Recruitment Program helps the students to overcome barriers and gain valuable job experience.

Fisher said he enjoyed working with the students during their summer internships.

"The highlight of my involvement with the WRP has been working with highly motivated, young people who have so much talent to offer in service to our country," said Fisher. "The two students that I had the pleasure of supervising were highly intelligent with formally recognized contributions to published technical papers."

Fisher called the award the highlight of his 40 years of federal service that includes three years as an Army signal officer.

"Being nominated for and selected to receive the National Image Award for the Department of the Army has been the highlight of my federal service," said Fisher. "I am humbled at being formally recognized and consider it a great honor."
