LSA ADDER, Iraq - About 200 Paratroopers, Soldiers, Airmen and Civilians ran this year's Adder 10-Miler Sunday to coincide with the annual Army Ten-Miler held in Washington, D.C. Another 800 runners took part in a 10-miler Sunday morning at Camp Victory in Baghdad, Iraq.

"This is the first 10-miler I've ever run; it's probably one of the most awesome feelings I've ever felt," said Spc. Matthew Davis, a human resources specialist out of Twin City, Ga., with Headquarter and Headquarters Company, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Logistics Support Area Adder.

The run route took the runners almost around the whole base with a number of water points established across the course. There were four categories in the race which were: the over-40 years of age for males, the over- 40 years of age for females, the under 40 years of age for males, and the under 40 years of age for females.

The person for the race was 1st Lt. Anthony R. Calingo, a battle captain in 11th Transportation Battalion, won the Adder race with an overall time of 58 minutes, 20 seconds

"I felt pretty happy that they put on the event. This is my 6th Army 10-Miler and second one in Iraq. It's something I like doing every year and to be able to continue doing it while deployed is definitely a good thing," said 1st Lt. Calingo.

The female with the overall fastest time of 1 hour, 16 minutes, eight seconds in the race was 2nd Lt. Ann Ayers of Blackstone, Va. with the 603rd Transportation Company.

"It makes the deployment feel as if we were back in the rear, a little bit more normal. I was impressed with my time because I really can't run a whole lot while I'm here because I'm always out on convoys. This was a real morale booster for me," said 2nd Lt. Ayers.

The person who organized the race was 1st Lt. Adrian White out of Shreve Port, La. and the Garrison Command Moral Welfare and Recreation officer-in-charge.

"It's something that I'm glad to be able to do. The Soldiers work hard and on their down time they want to release their stress; and the marathons and 10-milers allow them to do that," said 1st Lt. White.
