FORT EUSTIS, VA. (Sept. 17, 2010)- Waterborne Soldiers pulled out all the stops during a Sept. 17 early morning Change of Command ceremony held at Fort Eustis' 3rd Port welcoming on board Lt. Col. Kenneth K. Williams as the 10th Transportation Battalion's new commanding officer and bidding a fond farewell to outgoing commander, Lt. Col. William T. Draper.
Williams, who last served as the Transportation Corps Lieutenant Colonel's Assignment Officer, Human Resources Command, took command of the Waterborne Soldiers upon receipt of the unit's colors from Col. Charles F. Maskell, commander, 7th Sustainment Brigade.
"Today we are here to celebrate the accomplishments of the 10th Transportation Battalion," said Maskell as he addressed the Soldiers and crowd of leaders, family members and friends. No unit has deployed to more diverse locations than the hardworking and dedicated Soldiers and leaders of the 10th Transportation Battalion. The Waterborne Soldiers standing before you have always been on the cutting edge of what is going on across the Army; Cuba, Colombia, GITMO and Haiti are only a few places these Soldiers have carried out their mission and with great success."
The 800 Soldiers assigned to the 10th Transportation Battalion are responsible for a number of global missions to include deploying to conduct Theater Opening operations, water and Logistics Over The Shore operations and to provide command and control, support and force protection of all assigned and, or attached units.
