I have served in a multitude of logistics and leadership assignments over the last 42 years of service. My first 21 years were on active duty with the United States Army. I retired from the Army in 1988 as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. During my military career I served in the 25th and 7th Infantry Divisions, three tours with the 2nd Inf. Div., 82nd Airborne Div., United States Army Air Defense and Artillery School, United States Army Ordnance & Munitions Center and School and G/J4 Eighth United States Army. In 1989 I entered Civil Service as a GS-1670-12, Equipment Specialist, with the United States Army Missile Command as part of the Logistics Assistance Program (LAP). I remained with Missile Command until 1992 when I was selected and promoted to GS-0346-13 and moved to the Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA), Army Materiel Command, at Redstone Arsenal, Ala., still remaining associated with the LAP. In 1996, I was promoted to GS-14 and reassigned within the LAP to Germany as the Chief, Logistics Assistance Office-Europe from 1996-1997; Chief, Plans and Operations, U.S. Army Materiel Command Forward-Europe (which is now the 405th Army Field Support Brigade), Seckenheim, Germany, from 1997 to 2000; Deputy to the Commander, 403rd AFSB-Korea, Daegu, Korea, from 2000 to 2006; Deputy to the Commander, 406th AFSB, Fort Bragg, N.C. from May 2006 to May 2007; Chief, Soldier Support Center, LOGSA, from June 2007 to May 2009; Deputy to the Commander, 402nd AFSB, Joint Base Balad, Iraq, from Feb. - May 2005 and May - Nov. 2009.
Tell us about your current job and what you do: As the Deputy to the Commander, I am the senior civilian Army Materiel Command logistician within the 403rd AFSB area of responsibility. Through our parent, Army Sustainment Command, and other AMC elements represented in the brigade, we are able to deliver the might of the Materiel Enterprise to troops in the field.
What is the best part of your job: Mentoring people and watching them grow.
Why do you like working here: I have been married to a wonderful Korean lady for the last 31 years, and I call Korea my second home.
What do you do to make a difference for the Warfighter: Ensuring that the staff is proactive and relevant to the customers' "Fight Tonight" mission requirements.
What people don't know about me: I have a great love for the United States and the Republic of Korea. I call both my home.
What do you like to do in your spare time: Hunt, fish, wood working, auto crafts, gardening and ride my motorcycle.
What is your personal philosophy: Always take time to listen and care for your people. It is an Army value that was instilled in me early in my enlisted days in my Army career and it has worked well. You are as good as your people are. If you take care of them they will always take care of you.
