FORT RUCKER, Ala. -- Picerne Military Housing staff celebrates the opening of its second neighborhood center on Fort Rucker, July 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Families living in on-post housing can enjoy a fish fry, music, crafts and pool activities at the Bowden Terrace Neighborhood Center, located at 9700 Division Road.
Activities offer residents ways to cool off from the Alabama heat, enjoy good food, spend Family time and meet new friends before the beginning of the new school year, said Robert Frazier, Picerne community management director.
"We are focusing the dedication and celebration of this building toward the residents of Family housing to build a sense of community and recognize the Families living on post," Frazier said.
Picerne staff offer special activities for children, including pool relays, a scavenger hunt, prizes and crafts.
The Bowden Terrace Neighborhood Center is the second of three neighborhood centers to open here. Allen Heights Neighborhood Center opened last summer, and another facility is planned for Munson Heights.
The Bowden facility boasts more than 7,000 square feet of space dedicated to Families living on post.
The center features a gaming lounge, computer lab equipped with web cams for residents to communicate with friends and Family far away, a fitness center with an attached play room, a 25-meter pool with a beach-like entry, club room with billiard table, multipurpose room, kitchen and neighborhood management offices.
