REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- The AMC Band demonstrated a commitment to safety by sustaining a record of "zero" Class A, B, or C accidents and incurring no lost work days during fiscal year 2009.

The AMC band's accident free year was achieved while traveling more than 23,500 miles to 11 states by ground transportation, on and off loading an average of 7,500 pounds of gear, and deployment of the band's rock group, Raw Materiel, to Iraq and Kuwait .

The continual use of composite risk management, safety procedures, and leadership instilling a "culture of safety" are the keys to their achieving the AMC level Safety Award.

Accepting the award on behalf of the AMC band is 1st Sgt. James Cardo, band first sergeant.
