JMIDS Touches Down at National Training Center

A C130 Hercules aircraft touches down at the Bicycle Lake airfield at the National Training Center and Fort Irwin on Monday July 9, 2007. The New York Air National Guard aircraft was part of a demonstration of the Joint Modular Intermodal Distribution System (JMIDS). The JMIDS incorporates a standardized modular, collapsible container and platform in concert with an electronic tracking system.  The system was developed to overcome challenges in origin-to-destination cargo delivery through the Defense Transportation System (DTS).
