REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. - A noncommissioned officer from U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command was reenlisted during a ceremony May 10 at the command headquarters here.

Lt. Gen. Kevin T. Campbell , commanding general, USASMDC/ARSTRAT, presided over the reenlistment ceremony of Staff Sgt. Jerry De LeAfA3n, G-1 noncommissioned officer in charge.

De LeAfA3n, who has more than 13 years of military service, said he prayed about his decision to reenlist more than he actually thought about it.

"As a Christian you always want to do what is in God's will and what is the right for your family," he said. "In these days that we are living, it is a little bit difficult to make the decision of reenlisting due to the fact that we are a nation fighting terrorism, which sometimes requires us to be away from our families for long periods of time."

In the end, De LeAfA3n was happy with his decision of reenlisting.

"I know in my heart that I'm doing the right thing for my God, my family, the Army and our Nation," De LeAfA3n said.

De LeAfA3n's wife and daughter attended the ceremony along with numerous co-workers.
