The 9-to 11-year-old Fort Benning Lightening Bolts struck the Black Knights with an 11-6 win Saturday at the Child, Youth and School Services Youth Sports Complex.

The Lightening Bolts scored two runs in the top of the first inning following a Christian Reyes RBI single and Ryan Hamm scored after reaching base when he was hit by a pitch. The Black Knights took a 4-2 lead with

four runs in the bottom of the inning as Jacob Addesso scored on an outfielder's error and Gilberto Contreras hit an RBI triple. Contreras later scored.

The Lightening Bolts came back in the top of the second inning after Andrew Reeves added a run on an outfielder's error and Reyes hit a grand slam to lead 7-4. The Black Knights closed the deficit to 7-6 with two forced runs to end the inning.

The Lightening Bolts answered with another Reyes grand slam in the top of the third, while holding the Black Knights scoreless to seal an 11-6 win.

"Baseball is about keeping the momentum going, consistency and scoring runs and we did those things," Lightening Bolts coach Don Finley said. "The team worked together for the win."

Reyes, 11, said the team worked hard for the win.

"That was a fun game, but it was challenging," he said. "We had good defense, and overall, we played pretty good."

Both teams will wrap up regular season play Saturday.
