SAN FRANCISCO - Army Chief of Engineers Lt. Gen. Robert L. Van Antwerp promoted Colonel Scott F. "Rock" Donahue to the rank of Brigadier General in an April 9 ceremony at the South Pacific Division Command Headquarters in San Francisco.

As Commander of the South Pacific Division, Donahue is the senior active duty Army officer in the San Francisco Bay area. He is responsible for workforce of nearly 2,500 and a $1-billion federal program that includes civil works, military construction and environmental restoration.

The Division encompasses 10 states, including California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, and parts of Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and Texas.

The Divison's civil works program is oriented around major watersheds in the region and leverages federal resources in partnership with state and local governments to improve navigation, flood damage reduction, and ecosystem restoration.

Donahue was commissioned into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1983 from the Virginia Military Institute as a distinguished academic and military graduate. Prior to taking command of the South Pacific Division, he served as XVIII Airborne Corps Engineer and as director of Multi-National Corps - Iraq C7 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
