FORT MCPHERSON, GA. (March 29, 2010) Aca,!" U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) Well-Being officials were recently Beta testers for a new software application expected to standardize the way quality-of-life issues are submitted Army-wide for review through the Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) process.
During FORSCOM's 2010 AFAP conference March 24-26, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command (FMWRC) Project Liaison Michelle Reilly and DefenseWeb Technologies Project Manager Michele Ruditis facilitated Beta testing of the AFAP Issue Management System (IMS) for FORSCOM Well-Being staff and conference attendees.
The AFAP IMS, provided through the Army OneSource Portal, will allow for review, submission, escalation and tracking of issues throughout the issue-resolution process, said Ruditis.
Army community members and AFAP program managers at the installation level will be able to submit quality-of-life issues through the IMS, and command-level and Department of the Army-level AFAP program managers will be able to access the issues that are submitted, she said.
"The idea of the Issue Management System came from the need to reach the geographically dispersed (such as Soldiers, Family members, veterans and survivors who do not live on or near a military instillation) and capitalize on hearing the concerns of the total Army Family," said Pamela Mcbride, FORSCOM Well-Being Specialist.
To date, Beta testers of the IMS include Department of the Army (HQ, DA), FORSCOM and some installation AFAP officials. Beta testing facilitators are slated to conduct more experiments, during the U.S Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) AFAP conference in April, said Reilly.
Once all scheduled testing is complete with installation-, Command- and DA HQ-level AFAP program managers, IMS officials will analyze the feedback and make adjustments in an effort to one day field the new system to the Army community.
The AFAP process is the principal Army program leaders use to enhance the quality-of-life for Soldiers and their Family members.
