DETROIT ARSENAL, Mich. - As part of the IMCOM transformation and reorganization plan, the Visual Information Center, formerly part of the Directorate of Information Management, transitioned under a new chain of management.
The Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security oversees operations of the 11 photographers, graphic artists, media editors and staff in order to provide media service support to six major business groups on the Detroit Arsenal.
"We are a forward-thinking, customer-driven team," said Ralph Sanders, DPTMS director. "Customers can expect the same quality and level of service that they have always been provided."
A service modification that customers may have already experienced involves placing work orders. All requests are now required to be submitted online through the Garrison's intranet website using the Visual Information Operating System.
"There's definitely a learning curve to using the new system, but the staff is known for having outstanding customer service and will work with clients to make the transition go smoothly," said Wes Crickard, DPTMS chief of plans and operations.
The VIC has taken measures to help customers who are experiencing computer-related problems when placing work orders. A designated processor is available in the office where staff can provide one-on-one guidance to help train the user.
Valuable services provided by the VIC include, but are not limited to, the following: digital photography (DA portraits, passport/VISA photos, and event coverage), graphic support (design of logos, posters, brochures, displays, certificates, graphics and illustrations), computer-generated art, framing, audio-visual support (set design, script writing, music, voiceovers, animation, and video production and editing), conference support, broadcasting/engineering (satellite programming, IP/TV, event publicity and troubleshooting), and media library.
