FORT BELVOIR, Va. (Nov. 20, 2009) -- Civilian employees registering for courses at the Army Management Staff College and elsewhere face a major change in the application process.

Those registering for basic, intermediate, and advanced courses of the Civilian Education System must now complete a distributed-learning course online prior to applying for a seat in the resident course.

In the past, employees could apply for the resident and online courses at the same time and complete them simultaneously. But now, the distributed-learning course must be completed before attending the resident course, officials said.

More changes

While the distributed-learning course is valid for 365 days from registration, employees have six months to complete the course once they begin.

Once the dL course is complete, employees can apply for resident courses 60 days and beyond prior to the start date of the resident course.

Students with already approved reservations for resident courses will not need to reapply for the dL or resident course.
