REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. – Maj. Gen. Douglas Lowrey, commanding general of U.S. Army Contracting Command, and ACC Command Sgt. Maj. Rachel Harris, emphasized attitude, initiative and commitment to helping others succeed during a discussion with Leadership Development and Readiness Program participants Oct. 22 at Toftoy Hall on Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.

The visit was part of a three-day LDRP Level 2 session conducted by the U.S. Army Contracting Command-Redstone Arsenal center. The course helps leaders recognize an individual’s experience and needs for a particular task, then adjusts their guidance and support to help that person succeed. Participants learn skills they can apply when supervising, mentoring, and developing others to strengthen organizational readiness and mission accomplishment.

During the discussion, Lowrey encouraged the 21 participants to “have a great attitude and take initiative,” reinforcing the importance of taking action and contributing to their organizations.

When discussing personal motivation, Lowrey shared that he is driven by “coming to work and trying to make it better for you guys and fighting for resources for the next guy.”

The course is one of five courses in the extended Level 2 program administered by ACC-RSA. Participants are selected for the program level that aligns with their leadership experience and developmental needs.
