FORT LEE, Va. – A former U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command commanding general visited Oct. 23 to provide insight and mentorship to current CASCOM senior leaders during a time of rapid institutional transformation.
Lt. Gen. (retired) Larry Wyche commanded CASCOM from 2012 to 2014 before heading to Army Materiel Command where he was the deputy commanding general before he retired.
During his one-day visit, he received briefings from Maj. Gen. Sean Davis, current CASCOM commanding general, along with the commandants of the U.S. Army Quartermaster School, U.S. Army Ordnance School, U.S. Army Logistics School and U.S. Army Transportation School.
Discussions centered around the changing focus of training new logistics Soldiers, warrant officers and officers to meet the Army priorities allowing the new logisticians to sustain large-scale combat operations in a multi-domain operations environment.
Each commandant discussed the changes in focus from classroom to the field environment where the students receive more hands-on training in a tactical situation.
Wyche is the most recent former CASCOM commanding general to provide mentorship to the current school commandants. The goal is to have other past CASCOM leaders visit and see where CASCOM is heading and to provide insight to the current leadership.
