FORT LEE, Va. -- Staff Sgt. Gene Gaudino, Bravo Company, 58th Transportation Battalion drill sergeant, is nominated as a CASCOM Champion for his exceptional leadership, unwavering commitment to developing Soldiers, and sustained contributions that have significantly enhanced the readiness, professionalism, and culture of excellence within the company.

Gaudino’s dedication to excellence is exemplified by his selection into the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, one of the Army’s highest honors for Noncommissioned Officers. Rather than viewing this accomplishment as the culmination of his success, Gaudino has used it as a platform to inspire those around him to raise their own standards.

As a drill sergeant, Gaudino has distinguished himself as one of the organization’s most trusted, respected, and impactful leaders. Every trainee under his leadership benefits from his genuine investment in their success, and his ability to mentor, coach, and inspire ensures they leave Bravo Company prepared not only to meet the demands of the operational Army but to excel within it.

Despite the demanding responsibilities associated with training hundreds of future Transportation Soldiers, Gaudino voluntarily dedicates countless hours outside of the duty day to mentor and prepare fellow drill sergeants for the Expert Soldier Badge. He has become the driving force behind the company’s ESB preparation efforts, organizing training, coaching Soldiers through difficult tasks, and sharing lessons learned to improve individual and collective performance.

By developing more capable drill sergeants, Gaudino directly improves the quality of instruction delivered to every trainee who enters Bravo Company. The knowledge, experience, and confidence he instills in his peers are multiplied throughout every platoon, producing more effective instructors and ultimately better-trained Soldiers for the operational force.

Gaudino consistently sets the standard in every aspect of his profession. Whether leading physical readiness training, instructing warrior tasks and battle drills, mentoring junior cadre, or coaching fellow leaders toward professional milestones, he approaches every mission with unmatched professionalism, humility, and technical expertise.

His influence has become a force multiplier for Bravo Company, the 58th Transportation Battalion, and the U.S. Army Transportation School as a whole. Through his relentless pursuit of excellence, commitment to mentorship, and passion for developing both Soldiers and leaders, Gaudino has elevated the effectiveness of the entire organization.

His contributions have had a lasting and measurable impact on unit readiness, leader development, and the Army’s ability to produce disciplined, competent, and lethal Transportation Soldiers. Gaudino embodies the highest ideals of the Noncommissioned Officer Corps.

Gaudino entered the Army as a 88M Motor Vehicle Operator and has served for 10 years.

Gaudino was nominated by Capt. Lauren Onosai, Bravo Co., 58th Trans. Bn., commander.
