ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. – Anniston Army Depot’s role in keeping Army combat vehicles and small arms ready for the fight took center stage during an Oct. 23 visit by Acting Secretary of the Army Adam R. Telle, who called the depot critical to national defense and military readiness. He was joined by Congressman Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.

“Anniston Army Depot represents a cornerstone of our national defense and a vital part of our Army organic industrial base,” Telle said. “Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Hegseth, we are rebuilding our military and achieving peace through strength, and that starts right here on the shop floors of Anniston.”

Telle emphasized the depot workforce’s role in maintaining and modernizing Army equipment to support military readiness.

“The work done here by this professional team is fundamental to how we equip and sustain the warfighter,” he said. “Our ability to remain the most lethal and dominant land force in human history begins with the steel, sweat and expertise within this depot.”

He said the depot’s mission supports Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s “Arsenal of Freedom” initiative, which highlights the importance of American industrial capacity to military readiness.

“We continue to depend on the great team here at Anniston to ensure that when American Soldiers step onto a piece of ground, they own it, because they are backed by the most reliable, modern and lethal equipment in the world,” Telle said. “I thank this entire team for being a critical part of the engine that keeps our military strong. It’s no wonder Anniston Army Depot is considered the ‘Pit Crew of the American Warfighter.’”

That mission starts with the depot’s workforce, whose expertise and commitment translate the Army’s modernization priorities into combat-ready equipment for the Soldiers.

“Our team understand what we do here directly affects readiness. Every vehicle and piece of equipment we return to the field represents our commitment to the warfighter,” said ANAD commander, Col. Charles Moore. “We remain focused on strengthening our capabilities and ensuring our workforce has the tools and resources needed to meet mission demands.”

Telle credited congressional leadership for supporting defense infrastructure and modernization.

“We are also incredibly grateful for the steadfast leadership of Chairman Mike Rogers and the House Armed Services Committee, whose dedication to revitalizing our defense and organic industrial base ensures that critical installations like Anniston receive the infrastructure, modernization and resources they need to keep our nation secure,” he said.

The visit highlighted the depot’s role in sustaining Army equipment and maintaining the industrial capabilities needed to support current, surge and future military requirements and the defense of the Nation.
