Wilda intersection reconstruction begins
On Monday, October 5th, reconstruction of the intersection of Fabryczna, Madalińskiego, and Prądzyńskiego Streets began. Traffic management will also be changed.
On Monday, October 5, the construction site was handed over to the contractor.
The first step will be to modernize the gas network near the intersection – this work will be carried out by the network operator. Then, the main construction work will begin, with completion scheduled for mid-January 2027. New plantings will appear next spring.
The total investment cost, including annual greenery maintenance, will exceed PLN 1.1 million. The project is financed from funds from the Paid Parking Zone.
Once the reconstruction is complete, the area will gain new greenery, and the layout of the road, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings will become more clear.
Change in traffic organization
To minimize the inconvenience of the reconstruction, work at the intersection will be carried out in stages. The first stage will close the intersection of Fabryczna and Prądzyńskiego Streets. Traffic on Fabryczna Street will also be restricted. Pedestrians will be able to use the other side of the street.
In the next phase, a section of the intersection at the junction of Madalińskiego and Fabryczna streets will be closed. Traffic will remain open between Fabryczna and Prądzyńskiego streets. Pedestrian traffic, with restrictions, will be adjusted to the progress of the work. Stopping will be prohibited on the streets within the closure area.
Information about changes in the route of bus no. 171 can be found on the website of the Public Transport Authority .
More information about how the intersection in Wilda will change can be found in the announcement from the beginning of July, including on the website poznan.pl .
Ethiopian and Kenyan top Poznań Marathon
Barecha Geleto from Ethiopia and Betty Chepkwony from Kenya triumphed in the LOTTO 25th Poznań Marathon. This year, runners faced a completely new route, including Freedom Square and the Old Market Square, where the race returned after 18 years.
Runners took the new route for the anniversary marathon. The start, as usual, was on Grunwaldzka Street near the Poznań International Fair.
After the gunshot, the runners ran towards Roosevelta and Pułaskiego Streets, then along Wielkopolska Avenue to Sołacz. After a U-turn near Sołacki Park, the marathon runners headed along Pułaskiego Street towards Poznań and Garbar Armii Avenue. The next stops on the route were Północna and Kutrzeby Streets, and then Niepodległości Avenue. The section through the city center began at the intersection with Libelta Street.
Along the way, they passed such recognizable landmarks as Cyryl Ratajski Square, Wolności Square, and the Old Market Square, where the Poznań Marathon returned after 18 years. From there, runners made their way along Wielka and Mostowa Streets, across St. Roch Bridge and Piotrowo to the Malta River, and then, through Ratay's prefab housing estates, to the Starołęka Roundabout. Just beyond, they returned to the left bank of the Warta River, and the next section of the route followed the well-known section from Hetmańska Street through Łazarz, Górczyn, Raszyn, Junikowo, and Ławica, all the way to Bukowska Street.
After turning onto this street, marathon participants were treated to an exciting run through Enea Stadium. The venue, home to the Polish Football Champions, was met with enthusiastic support from the stands, which became one of the most important fan spots along the route.
The last section led along Grunwaldzka Street to the finish line traditionally located at Marka Square at the Poznań International Fair.
Barecha Geleto of Ethiopia was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 2:11:35. The best female finisher was Betty Chepkwony of Kenya (2:29:33), Monika Brzozowska of Poland finished in 2:43:05. Mateusz Lipiński was the best Polish finisher with a time of 2:24:21.
The day before, the 5km "Poznań Five" race took place. The winners were Aleksii Pysarev (00:14:05 – course record) and Jecinta Mwende Kamau (00:15:59).
Poznań tap water goes to restaurants
Could free tap water become a permanent fixture on restaurant menus? This is the goal of the "Kranówka Poznańska" campaign launched by Aquanet. The first partners have already joined the initiative.
The restaurant industry is increasingly paying attention to every detail of the guest experience. The products, the origin of ingredients, the atmosphere of the place, and the values represented by the establishment all play a role. Water can become a natural element of the whole.
Promoting the drinking of tap water is part of Aquanet's long-term mission. For years, the company has been conducting educational and social initiatives that demonstrate that tap water is a good, safe, and convenient choice for everyday use. This new campaign is the next step in this effort.
"We wanted to create a brand that residents would identify with. A modern, urban, and authentic brand. That's how the idea of Kranówka Poznańska was born," emphasizes Katarzyna Bogucka, Head of Communications at Aquanet. "This slogan doesn't promote a product invented for the campaign. It promotes something that has been a source of pride for Aquanet and Poznań for years: great tap water," she adds.
To emphasize the potential of tap water becoming a local brand, small elements featuring the campaign logo will be visible at partner establishments, including napkins and carafes. Places serving free tap water will also be marked on a map posted on the website kranowkapoznanska.pl .
"I had no doubt that it was worth getting involved in this campaign. This way, we can promote good practice in the industry, while also contributing to changing the daily habits of everyone. We've been serving tap water in our establishments for years. It's a healthy and eco-friendly choice," says Rafael Anatol, founder of Twoja Wina, Ludowa, and Romans, who was the first to join the campaign.
Tap water is backed by multi-million-dollar investments, constantly modernized infrastructure, and research facilities. Last year alone, over 5,000 samples were tested, which were subjected to 83,000 analyses. These tests cover the entire supply chain from well to tap. They are also performed with much greater frequency and for a wider range of parameters than required by law.
In the coming weeks, you'll be able to find Kranówka Poznańska in restaurants, on social media, on city lights, city screens, at bus stops, and on trams. All this to show that good water is at your fingertips, straight from the tap.
