The 10th anniversary Vistula Festival in Torun is upon us.
The exceptional tenth edition of the Vistula Festival is upon us – the largest river event in Poland and this part of Europe, based on the Vistula's heritage, traditions, and cultural treasures associated with the Queen of Polish Rivers. From August 13th to 15th, 2026, Toruń's Philadelphia Boulevard and the Vistula Meadows will be the main stop for this extraordinary floating armada.
The first Vistula Festival was held in 2017 to celebrate the Year of the Vistula River. The organizers were inspired by the largest river festival in the world – the Loire Festival in Orléans, France. However, its formula has been refined: the Vistula Festival is a flowing event, making it unique on an international scale.
This year, the festival armada will cover a total of 160 kilometers of the Vistula River between August 7 and 16, visiting a record number of 9 Vistula towns in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (including Włocławek, Nieszawa, Ciechocinek, Toruń, Bydgoszcz-Fordon, Chełmno and Grudziądz).
" Since the dawn of time, the Vistula has been the driving force behind Toruń's development, shaping our identity, architecture, and commercial character, " emphasizes Rafał Pietrucień, Deputy Mayor of Toruń . " The River Festival is not only an opportunity to cultivate the valuable rafting traditions inscribed on the UNESCO list, but above all, a moment when the city fully returns to the river. The Vistula Festival reminds us all of the crucial role the Vistula has played and continues to play in the history and daily life of Toruń, " he adds.
The Municipality of Toruń has been the event's sole and key local government partner since its inception . Since its inception in 2017, the city has consistently supported the festival, investing in restoring the river to its residents. To date (between 2017 and 2025), the Municipality of Toruń has allocated a total of PLN 1,710,000 for this purpose. This support continues as part of the current three-year competition (2025-2027), for which the city has budgeted nearly one million PLN. Toruń has allocated PLN 297,000 for this year's event, and in 2027, this amount will increase to PLN 350,000. Together with expenditures for the coming years, the city's total investment in the development of the Vistula River Festival will exceed PLN 2.3 million .
" The Vistula Festival is a fantastic promotional and tourism boost for Toruń. Every year, the event attracts thousands of visitors from all over Poland and abroad. The unique, rafting atmosphere gives Toruń a distinctive character, demonstrating that the river is our great strength. We are delighted that so many tourists can discover Toruń from the water and enjoy the rich offerings of living tradition and recreation, " says Ewa Banaszczuk-Kisiel, Director of the Tourism Development Office at Toruń City Hall .
The core of the festival is the rafting of traditional wooden riverboats and ships, replicas of ancient vessels from the time when the Vistula River was Europe's largest trade route in the 16th century. This year's edition will feature a record-breaking flotilla of at least 43 traditional vessels on the Toruń section of the river. Between the Toruń Harbor and the boulevard, visitors will be able to admire large punts, drak karów, cogs, yawls, bulls, and nasuts, as well as smaller whips, levees, nieszawkas, and dugout canoes.
" The anniversary edition of the Vistula Festival will be record-breaking in every respect. We've prepared over 250 attractions, including special zones showcasing disappearing professions, spectacular performances, concerts, and stands showcasing our heritage. The highlight of the tour will be Toruń, where we'll be staying for three days. Sailors from all over Poland, including Silesia and Lesser Poland, are coming to us to showcase their UNESCO-listed rafting traditions. Toruń places a strong emphasis on the Vistula River—for us, it's not just the festival itself, but also everyday recreation ," explains Marcin Karasiński, Festival Director .
The anniversary edition returns to its roots and focuses on even greater integration with the audience:
- Free cruises and sightseeing: Residents and tourists will be able to take part in at least 63 free cruises on traditional boats for over 600 people daily. The program includes cruises with stories about Nicolaus Copernicus, Vistula legends, poetry, and photography workshops. The vessels moored at the quay will also be available for free sightseeing (August 13-15).
- Parades and fire shows: the festival's hallmark is the spectacular boat parades on the water. A special highlight of the program will be an atmospheric night parade illuminated by flares, torches, fire, and smoke, accompanied by music (August 14th),
- Tradition, crafts, and flavors: on land, there will be over 17 educational stations showcasing historical boatbuilding, blacksmithing, ropemaking, ship carpentry, amber crafts, and gingerbread baking, among other things. Visitors will also enjoy historical reenactments ("Customs House," "Port Guard"), the "Vistula Tastes" fair, and the Fair of Traditional Products of the Vistula Regions.
- Sports, music, and conferences: on the water, the Vistula Challenge sailing regatta for the Toruń Mayor's Cup will take place, as will a safe Vistula River swim with WOPR lifeguards (August 14th). A sporting highlight on land will be the "Vistula Basketball Relay" with players from Arriva Polski Cukier Toruń and Twarde Pierniki. The main stage will feature performances by Farben Lehre, Łysa Góra, Atlantyda, and Dubska, among others.
The Vistula Festival is a unique, family-friendly event that fosters a spirit of mutual kindness and celebrates the great Vistula River heritage. We invite you to join us in celebrating on Toruń's Philadelphia Boulevard from August 13th to 15th.

Participants will be able to enjoy four routes of varying difficulty, leading through picturesque corners of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
What is gravel? A gravel bike is a bicycle that combines the features of a road bike and a mountain bike, and can be ridden on both asphalt and gravel or forest roads.

• Błękitna – approx. 90 km,
• Biała – approx. 150 km,
• Green – approx. 250 km,
• Burgundy – approx. 350 km.
The Blue Trail is an excellent choice for those looking to try their hand at gravel riding for the first time. Other distances are increasingly challenging and require appropriate preparation.

On Thursday, the Tour de Pologne peloton will pass through the Bolesławiec district.
Residents of the Nowogrodziec and Osiecznica communes will be able to see outstanding world-class cyclists on August 6.
During the fourth stage of this year's race, the cyclists will ride from Żagań to Karpacz, covering 176 kilometers and 2,434 meters of elevation gain.
The start in Żagań will be at 12:20 p.m. The peloton should reach Zebrzydowa around 1:20 p.m., Nowogrodziec ten minutes later, and Gościszów another 10 minutes later.
According to the organizers, the fourth stage of this year's Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will be the first truly mountainous challenge. Riders will tackle the demanding and picturesque trails of Lower Silesia. The stage will begin in Żagań, and the terrain, where riders from the world's best teams will compete, will gradually rise. The route will feature two Special Premiums – the Gołębiewski Hotel and the Seidorf Hotel, as well as three PZU Mountain Premiums – in Antoniow, Borowice, and Karpacz, just 4 kilometers from the finish. The final stage is fraught with difficulty, and the riders will be challenged by both the categorized climbs and the final wall at Orlinek in Karpacz. The iconic finish line of the Tour de Pologne, which has seen triumphs by Alberto Contador, Matej Mohoric, Thibau Nys, and Paul Lapeira, will once again be the scene of a great cycling spectacle.
The race has been held (with breaks) for 98 years. This year's route runs from Gdynia to Wieliczka and is 1,110 kilometers long.
