On October 11, Oakland County became the first county in Michigan to sign the Community Covenant. The ceremony took place at the Palace of Auburn Hills during half time of the Detroit Pistons basketball game. Several Oakland County and city officials, Army battalion commander LTC Kevin Payne, and representatives from the Marines, Navy and Air Force were at center court for the signing ceremony and received an overwhelming positive response from the audience including over 1,000 military veterans.
