Shoppers at the refurbished Goss Road Express/Class 6 will find new food options like Hunt’s Brother Pizza and Chopz, expanded quick-service dining, updated walk-in cooler, new lighting, fixtures and interior decor and new polished concrete flooring.

“These upgrades allow Team Exchange to evolve with the needs of our nearly 76,000 military shoppers in the Huntsville area, including active-duty service members, military families, retirees, service-connected disabled veterans and Department of War civilians and other authorized shoppers, providing them with an updated, modern shopping experience,” Antonio Porter, vice president of the Army & Air Force Exchange Service’s South Central Region, said at a grand reopening ceremony Friday.

“It matters where you shop,” he said, adding that it is a privilege to deliver tax-free shopping to military shoppers, “the best customers in the world. It is an honor to serve Redstone Arsenal and today’s celebration demonstrates the Exchange’s commitment to serving those who serve.”

The project was designed with service members and their families in mind, Porter said. “The value of these improvements is $2.1 million and represents part of our give-back promise to the Redstone Arsenal community.”

Porter and Garrison Commander Col. Erin Eike thanked the Redstone community for its support and patience throughout the duration of the project and Exchange leaders Central Region Senior Vice President ReBecca Santee and Real Estate Directorate Senior Vice President Mike Smietana. Porter also thanked Eike and her team, Redstone Exchange General Manager Sheldon Richburg and Store Manager Peggy Jensen for their support and hard work.

“At the Exchange, one of our mottos is family serving family,” Porter said. “We are thrilled to be part of the Redstone Arsenal family.”

Eike said the transformation of the store is “absolutely stunning.”

“Redstone Arsenal is committed to working collaboratively with the Exchange to support the evolving needs of our service members,” Eike said. The project, which started in September represents “a significant investment in our community.”

A resident of Redstone Arsenal, Eike said she’s particularly excited about the new food options – Chopz and Hunt Brother’s Pizza. Chopz offers a variety of salads, subs and wraps.

“This effort reflects the coordination across our installation to ensure our nation’s heroes have the access to resources they need to carry out their mission,” Eike said, “and I’m confident this newly renovated facility will enhance the quality of life for everyone here on Redstone.”

Richburg said the celebration on Friday was more than a ribbon cutting event. “It reflects the Exchange’s enduring partnership with Redstone Arsenal and our shared commitment to serving those who serve.”
