Winter Sports Academy in Torun
This weekend, Toruń will become the scene of winter sports excitement. The Winter Sports Academy, combined with the Toruń Residents' Games, will be held at the Sports Hall of the Complex of Social Sports Schools and the 8th Secondary School at 33/35 Grunwaldzka Street.
This is an open sports and recreational event aimed at all city residents, regardless of age or experience.
The arena and its surroundings will be transformed into a winter sports center, where participants will be able to test their skills in eleven activity zones, including biathlon, curling, ice hockey, cross-country skiing, bobsleigh, ski simulators, and virtual ski jumping. The biggest attraction of the event will be a mobile ski jump, which will be located in front of the sports hall. Everyone will be able to test their skills on the jump, a unique attraction not normally available.
The event is open and inclusive. Individuals, family teams, friendly teams, and teams formed by local communities are welcome to participate. Training sessions and workshops will take place in open activity zones starting at 10:00 a.m., and the program will culminate in a three- or four-person team competition as part of the Toruń Residents' Games, scheduled for 2:30-4:30 p.m.

The Winter Sports Academy and Toruń Residents' Games aim not only to promote physical activity but also to share the excitement of sport and immerse residents in the atmosphere of the upcoming Winter Olympics. This combination of sport, fun, and integration has the potential to become one of the most exciting winter recreational events in Toruń.

The weekend is expected to be sunny, with temperatures reaching -15 degrees Celsius. There will be a run in the park, a metal concert, and other attractions. It's worth checking out nearby events, including a bonfire on the ski and sledding slope in Szprotawa.
Saturday, January 31, 2026 in Szprotawa
- 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM "Winter Chill" by the Bonfire Vol. 2, on the Szprotawa ski and sledding slope. There will be a bonfire, bigos (sausages), cakes, sausages, and a friendly atmosphere. Of course, you'll be able to ski down the artificially snowed slope, weather permitting.
Saturday, January 31, 2026 in Żagań
- 9.00 a.m. the running group invites you to the 127th edition of parkrun in the park, on a 5 km route.
- 5:00 PM Christmas carol singing meeting at the Garrison Church on Żarska Street in Żagań, for parishioners who were unable to participate in the carol singing at home, and Holy Mass for the intentions of the parishioners.
New Year's Volleyball Tournament -- Grand Prix of the North of Słupca County series
The 2nd Amateur Grand Prix of the North of Słupca County will begin this Saturday (January 31st)!
The first tournament in the series will take place in Powidz. Seven teams will compete in the Powidz Primary School gymnasium, including teams representing our community.
The BAZA-R Restaurant will provide the main prize for the winners, and JADŁO W OPENERZE will provide catering for the competitors during the competition.
There will be plenty of volleyball excitement, competitive sportsmanship, and a fantastic atmosphere! Admission is free!
