FORT LEE, Va. —The U.S. Army Garrison Fort Lee team remains fully committed to delivering critical life, health, and safety services for everyone who works and lives on the installation throughout the furlough.
During the shutdown, this site will pause updates until funding is restored, except for information directly tied to protecting lives, safeguarding property, maintaining essential mission operations, and communicating the status of the Department of War.
Civilian employees should stay closely connected with their leadership and monitor www.opm.gov for official updates.
Here is how the government shutdown is affecting key installation services:
AFFECTED SERVICES/FACILITIES
- Army Education Center: Open, but with limited services.
- Army Military Pay Office: Support services limited to BOLC, Accessions, Separations and No Pay Due cases as scheduled; available only via phone/e-mail/MS Teams.
- Military Personnel Division: U.S. official passport and visa processing is suspended.
- Fort Lee official mail room: Closed.
- Army Community Service: All programs suspended except for the Family Advocacy Program and Army Emergency Relief.
- U.S. Army Quartermaster Museum, U.S. Army Ordnance Museum and U.S. Army Women’s Museum: Closed.
- The Client Services Division of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate is currently open Monday – Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for notaries and powers of attorney. These services are available on a walk-in basis; no appointment is required. Because all Client Services Division attorneys are currently furloughed, routine legal assistance services requiring the assistance of an attorney are currently suspended. The Office of the Staff Judge Advocate will address urgent and time-sensitive needs for legal assistance on a case-by-case basis. If you believe you have an urgent or time-sensitive need for legal assistance services from an attorney, please visit the Client Services Division during business hours to discuss your concerns.
UNAFFECTED SERVICES/FACILITIES
- Fort Lee AAFES facilities, including the PX, gas station, shoppettes and food service areas: Open for normal operations.
- Commissary: Open as normal.
- Security operations and hours at installation access gates remain the same.
- All other Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs and facilities including fitness centers, other than ACS listed above, remain open. No change to operating hours at all Child Development and Youth Centers on post.
- Kenner Army Health Clinic: Patient care activities will remain fully functional in support of the health and readiness of the Fort Lee community. Prescriptions will be limited to a 30-day supply.
- All dining facilities, transportation motor pools, the Central Issuing Facility and other Logistics Readiness Center-managed facilities will continue operating as normal.
- Mission Installation Contracting Command: Open with minimum staffing.
- Network Enterprise Center: Core operations services will continue.
