The Active Vehicle Barrier located across the outbound lanes of Fort Leonard Wood’s North Gate on Missouri Avenue is scheduled to be repaired Aug. 26 through 29, 2025.
During the repairs, motorists can expect the following traffic impacts:
- The inbound lanes will be reduced to two lanes with one lane being used for inbound traffic and the other for outbound traffic.
- All outbound lanes will be closed during work hours, which are scheduled to be from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., to ensure worker safety and to accommodate repair activities.
- When workers are not on site, the work area will be safely secured, and all lanes will be open to in- and out-bound traffic.
Heavy congestion at the North Gate is expected during the morning, noon and afternoon peak hours while repairs are being made. Motorists should plan their commute to avoid delays and are encouraged to use other gates to access Fort Leonard Wood during this time.
According to Lt. Col. Elizabeth Obrecht, director of the Directorate of Emergency Services, traffic control signs and temporary barriers will be used to assist the traffic flow and safety throughout the repair period.
“We understand the repairs will cause impacts, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” Obrecht said. “We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while the team works to repair a critical component of our installation’s physical security and safety programs.”
