CAMP WALKER, South Korea— U.S. Army Garrison Daegu leadership addressed community concerns and unveiled summer programming at a town hall meeting May 13 at the Evergreen Club. Approximately 40 community members attended the 3:30 p.m. event, which was also live-streamed.
Key discussion points centered around preparations for the upcoming typhoon and monsoon season. The Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobility and Security urged residents to review emergency plans, secure belongings, and stay informed through official channels for potential weather-related updates and safety guidelines.
Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation highlighted upcoming summer events, including the annual Liberty Fest, promising a day of entertainment and community building. A robust schedule of youth sports and recreational activities was also announced, offering summer opportunities for children of all ages.
Chaplain (Capt.) Peter Nwokoye promoted Vacation Bible School, detailing dates, themes, and the importance of early registration information for volunteers who facilitate the popular summer program.
The Garrison Public Affairs Office provided information regarding the end of the current school year, including the Senior Walk and Parade on May 30, and the Daegu High School Graduation on June 5.
Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Asgar Kamaludeen concluded the meeting by emphasizing the importance of community involvement and preparedness. He encouraged attendees to utilize available resources and participate in upcoming events.
