Sculptor. Painter. Architect. Poet. At the age of 87 he said, “I am still learning.” Michelangelo’s everyday life, full of toil and sacrifice, may not have equaled the beauty of his works, but it became a kind of manifesto for subsequent generations of artists who, like him, spared no effort to bring at least a piece of heaven to Earth. Archaeological discoveries in Lubuskie
In the Lubuskie province, archaeological works are being carried out every now and then. And each time it turns out that the land in our region hides incredible treasures.
In recent years, many remains of our ancestors have been discovered, even those who inhabited these lands before our era. These included settlements and war cemeteries. Thanks to this, we can learn at least a small degree about how and where people lived in our lands hundreds or even thousands of years ago.
In addition to settlements and cemeteries, real treasures have also been discovered in Lubuskie. Although archaeologists and historians admit that it is not easy to find one. It is rare that a discovery is not a coincidence.
Most often it's a twist of fate. Archaeologists rarely find treasures such as a pot of coins or other valuable items. Currently, such items are most often found by people with metal detectors - admits Krzysztof Socha, archaeologist at the Kostrzyn Fortress Museum.
But for archaeologists, historians and scholars, it is not only the material value of the artifacts that is valuable. Here, their historical value often counts. There are finds that are important for the Lubuskie province. - From my point of view, this is, for example, Krześniczka and the warrior cemetery discovered there, and also the seat of the Lubuskie bishops in Górzyca, where we managed to find several extremely interesting objects - says K. Socha. For researchers, the opportunity to determine the owner of an object they find is a real treat. While determining the owner of an artifact from the 20th or even 19th century can be relatively easy, assigning the owner to an object from the Middle Ages is quite a challenge.
