FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — Several Fort Leonard Wood buildings will be having water service lines replaced following guidance from the Environmental Protection Agency and Missouri Department of Natural Resources regulations regarding the Lead and Copper Improvement proposal.
According to a Directorate of Public Works, Water and Wastewater Utility Privatization contracting officer representative, American Water Military Services inspectors did not find any pipes with lead, but they plan to replace galvanized service lines of 54 Fort Leonard Wood buildings within the next five years.
A DPW official said the American Water company plans to begin posting notifications in November, with more specific information on each building affected, including Bldgs. 1239, 1278, 1279, 1309, 1315, 1316, 1317, 1318, 1319, 1320, 1321, 2203, 2204, 2207, 2208, 2212, 2214, 2215, 2216, 2217, 2219, 2222, 2226, 2308, 2310, 2311, 2313, 2314, 2318. 2319, 2320, 2321, 2322, 2323, 2324, 2325, 2326, 2330, 2331, 2332, 2334, 2335, 2336, 2337, 2338, 2339, 2340, 2341, 2342, 2343, 2344, 2345, 2550 and 2558.
