Fort Detrick Hosts Retiree Appreciation Day Sept. 19

Retirees and their families converged onto Fort Detrick for the annual Retiree Appreciation Day, Sept. 19.

The event, which was hosted by the Fort Detrick Retiree Council, is the largest event for the council. After several years of not holding the event, this year marked the second straight year where retirees were able to gather and learn more about services available to them, relevant upcoming state legislation, and more.

The event began in the Fort Detrick auditorium where Col. Sarah Goldman of the US Army Medical Research and Development Command provided opening remarks, followed by several speakers who presented information about topics such as healthcare options, retiree council opportunities, and consumer protection awareness.
