There is a new commander of the Bolesławiec artillerymen
On September 9, a ceremony of handing over the duties of the commander of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment took place in Bolesławiec. After nearly three years of service as the regiment commander, Colonel Krzysztof Malankiewicz handed over his duties to Colonel Rafał Grzywiński .
After reading the decision of the Minister of National Defense on the appointment to new service positions, the floor was taken by the commander of the 11th Armored Cavalry Division, Brig. Gen. Jan Wojno, who in his speech briefly characterized the period of command of the regiment by Colonel Krzysztof Malankiewicz and presented the course of service of the new commander of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Colonel Rafał Grzywiński. In conclusion, he thanked the outgoing commander for his efforts and the results and training successes achieved during his command of the unit and wished the new commander success in commanding the regiment.
The culminating moments of the ceremony were the ceremony of handing over the unit's military banner between the resigning and newly appointed commander of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, as well as the moment of signing the handover protocols and taking up duties as regiment commander in the presence of the commander of the "Black Division".
Upon taking up his duties, Colonel Grzywiński received from the division commander the symbols distinguishing the soldiers of the 11th Armoured Division – a black shoulder board and a black beret.
Summarizing the period of commanding the regiment, Colonel Krzysztof Malankiewicz emphasized participation in the most important international exercises in the country and abroad, cooperation with American soldiers stationed in Bolesławiec and participation in missions abroad. He also thanked the soldiers and employees of the Ministry of National Defense for their dedication and commitment to service: - The most important thing has always been and is the soldier. I had the honor of commanding excellent soldiers, with whom we completed many tasks together.
In his speech, Colonel Grzywiński emphasized his readiness to meet new challenges posed by the regiment: " Service in the Polish Army is a constant challenge, but also an opportunity to work with the best. I know that together we will be able to meet any task that our homeland sets before us. We will do it with pride and reliability, for which the artillery is known."
The Military Festival in Dobra is behind us
Last Saturday, September 7, the Municipal Cultural and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec with the Kruszyn branch celebrated the 57th anniversary of the unit's establishment with the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Company "Commando.” Thus, the sports field in Dobra became an arena for military shows for the second time.
The event began with parachute jumps with the flags of 62 KS Commando, Bolesławiec Commune, JWK and Special Forces. The large audience was welcomed jointly by the Mayor of the Bolesławiec Commune - Andrzej Janiec and the Vice-President of the Association of the 62nd Special Commando Company - Bogdan Fiałkowski. Next, we had the opportunity to see demonstrations of a combat dog training and hand-to-hand combat presented by the Snake group. There was no shortage of people willing to try on soldier equipment, and the bravest could use the parachute jump simulator. At the same time, a basketball match was taking place on the pitch between the representation of the 1st Cavalry Division of the United States Army and Bolesławiec Team Gersheimer, in which the players of the Polish team turned out to be better. Both the winners and losers received prizes in the form of vouchers for bowling funded by the Ibis Hotel, presented by the mayor - Andrzej Janiec and Brig. Gen. Rafał Kowalik - Deputy Commander of the 1st Cavalry Division of the US Army. This year's celebration was preceded by races in several categories, including the Cross Commando category, i.e. a run with a 20-kilogram backpack and a family run over 400 m. Of course, there could be no shortage of soldier's pea soup, and for those with an even bigger appetite, the Rural Housewives' Association from Dobra prepared pierogi and cakes. Numerous animations and refreshing lemonade for the youngest were provided by the NOMO Cake & Cafe.

Germany introduces temporary border controls with all its neighbors
The German Interior Minister speaks of the threat of "Islamic terror and serious crime".
The German authorities have decided that from September 16, controls will be introduced on all land borders of the country, for six months at the moment. In the case of Poland and two other countries, it is a question of extending the time of their validity - the current one is valid until December 15. Berlin wants to fight illegal migration in this way, and in the background is the recent knife attack in Solingen and the electoral triumphs of the right-wing Alternative for Germany.
Germany shares a land border of more than 3,700 km with Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland. Last year, authorities announced tightening controls at land borders with Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland in response to a sharp increase in asylum applications.
