Cadet Command to host post-wide ‘Lift the Vault’ Powerlifting Competition Nov. 4-6

FORT KNOX, Ky. — Calling all Fort Knox powerlifters!

The installation will conduct a three-day powerlifting competition at Smith Fitness Center Nov. 4-6 to celebrate physical excellence, increase readiness, build cohesion and promote esprit de corps across the installation.

The competition, hosted by U.S. Army Cadet Command, will be divided into male and female categories as well as weight subcategories. For males, the weight categories are light, 179 pounds and below; medium, 180-205 pounds; heavy, 206-229 pounds; and super heavy, 230-plus pounds.

For females, weight categories are light, 130 pounds and below; medium, 131-170 pounds; and heavy, 171-plus pounds.

The competition will be performed at six platforms with two warmup stations. Three lifts will be performed – the squat, bench and deadlift. Four items are authorized for lifters to use - wrist wraps, back belts, knee sleeves and gym-supplied chalk.

A welcome brief will be held Nov. 4 at 5:30 a.m. followed by registration, a rules brief and rack measurements. Competition will begin at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 5 and will last for approximately three hours. There will be an award ceremony Nov. 6 for the top competitors.
