FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — The U.S. Army Military Police School said farewell to Brig. Gen. Sarah Albrycht and welcomed Col. Charles Green during a change-of-commandant ceremony July 26 in Lincoln Hall Auditorium.

Green is the 53rd commandant of the school.

The reviewing officer for the ceremony, Maj. Gen. Christopher Beck, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general, spoke on the “two primary jobs” performed at MSCoE.

“The first is to train the next generation of leaders and warriors, and also to drive change for our Army,” Beck said. “As the commandant, you are the personality of both of those requirements. You drive both of those things.”

Albrycht, Beck noted, performed those duties, “extremely well.”

“You have trained thousands, from the most junior private up to senior leaders, on what it means to be a military policeman in today’s Army,” Beck said. “But you’ve also driven a lot of change within that training. Your visionary leadership has reimagined what the MP needs to do for our Army.”

Beck also welcomed Green, calling him, “the right person to take the MP Regiment to the next level.”

“Although our leaders always change positions, the Army does a great job of finding the right Army family to fill the void created as people move on,” Beck said. “We are truly excited to have you join our team.”

Albrycht moves on to the Pentagon, where she serves as the Army’s Provost Marshal General and commanding general of U.S. Army Corrections Command.

She thanked her USAMPS team, “for your dauntless belief in what we provide to the Army; your steadfast service in the face of adversity; and your willingness to tackle difficult tasks.”

“You have forged a path that has been instrumental in the progress of the regiment, and we have made that during unprecedented times,” Albrycht said. “When I took over in 2022, the Army initiated its transformational change in preparation to win the next fight, forcing us, as a regiment, to holistically contemplate how we would support the Army of 2030, and 2040.”

She said she took on the commandant position, “with knowledge of the difficulties ahead.”

“And with tremendous teammates by my side,” she continued, “we met, head on, the challenges of restructuring across the enterprise, and, together, we pushed changes to doctrine, organizations, training, equipping and so much more.”

Albrycht noted some of Green’s command and combat experience, calling him, “perfectly suited to build on the foundation of those leaders, who have been privileged to lead this regiment.”

“The Army wants the Military Police Regiment of 2040, and Colonel Green is ready to build it,” Albrycht said.

Green arrives at this assignment from Hawaii, where he most recently commanded the 8th MP Brigade and served as the Director of Emergency Services for U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii. He thanked Albrycht for her support and mentorship in preparing for his new position and spoke to “the incredible professionals” of USAMPS.

“I’m extremely excited to serve with you, learn from you and deliver on the important mission of this center and our schools,” Green said.

Before concluding his remarks, Green invited Albrycht back onto the Lincoln Hall Auditorium stage, where he, USAMPS Regimental Chief Warrant Officer 4 Angela Rulewich and USAMPS Regimental Command Sgt. Maj. William Shoaf presented Albrycht with the MP Regimental Association’s Order of the Marechaussee in gold, acknowledging Albrycht’s “outstanding dedication and devotion to the Military Police Corps Regiment.”
