HONOLULU, Hawaii – Army Counterintelligence Command Region VI conducted a community outreach event on April 4 and 5, 2024 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Region VI partnered with the River of Life Mission, a community of churches, services, and staff who help serve the homeless community. The River of Life Mission provides food, clothes, and the opportunity for rehabilitation to the homeless population at 80 different hub spots around Oahu.
Region VI dedicated their time, personnel, and efforts to assist in preparing meals for those in need across the island. Everyone in the unit decided to lend a hand from the commander down to their junior enlisted. Region VI Soldiers, Civilians, as well as some of their Families assisted the River of Life staff in preparing the boxes for distribution, packing up meals, washing the dishes used to prepare the hundreds of meals, and cleaning the kitchen after all the meals were prepared.
"The opportunity for our Soldiers and Army Civilians to do community service was a heartfelt reminder of the local population we support through our military service," said CPT Chan, the commander of Region VI. "It was an absolute privilege to serve alongside local volunteers and learn their stories as we prepared and packaged meals for the 4,500 unhomed persons in Oahu, Hawai'i. These unsung heroes embody the value of selfless service every day and we greatly admire their humility, passion, and dedication to the food shelter's mission."
Over the two days, Region VI personnel worked alongside the River of Life staff to prepare over 500 meals for distribution. Beyond preparing meals, Region VI's participation in this community outreach exemplified the Army's core values of selfless service and comradery.
