WAHIAWĀ, HAWAIʻI — Sgt. Riley Bonaventura, a military police officer with the U.S. Army 8th Military Police Brigade at Schofield Barracks, was awarded Outstanding First Responder of the Year at the Wahiawā Lions Club's 40th annual awards ceremony on May 15, 2024. The event, held at the Mango Street Grill's Central Oʻahu Event Center, celebrated the exceptional service and dedication of local heroes, including public safety officers and other first responders.

For over 70 years, the Wahiawā Lions Club has been committed to enhancing the lives of Wahiawā residents. This year, they honored six remarkable individuals for their exemplary service, moral character, and unwavering dedication to their community. Each awardee received a Hawaiʻi Plaque and a City Council Honorary Certificate, presented by City Councilman Matt Weyer.

Sgt. Bonaventura was recognized for his outstanding moral character, courage, resilience, and proactive initiatives. His dedication and helpfulness have established him as a model soldier of selflessness and bravery, reflecting the highest standards of the U.S. Army.
