FORT KNOX, Ky. – Sgt. 1st Class Peter Vandine, a native of Columbus, Ohio, serves as a Recruiter at the Columbus-West Recruiting Station.

Prior to becoming an Army Recruiter, Vandine served in the Military Police Corps. In addition to being recognized as a Top 13 Recruiter with U.S. Army Recruiting Command, Vandine’s accomplishments include earning a Meritorious Service Medal and his associate degree from Columbia Southern University.

Supporting the Army in other ways, Vandine also participates in All Army Basketball and successfully completed the Special Reaction Team Phase 2 Course. He said next, he has his sights set on achieving the rank of master sergeant on the next order of merit list.

Vandine said one of the most special moments of his life occurred when he met his daughter for the first time after returning from his Afghanistan deployment. Motivated by thoughts of his daughter’s future, he obtained the Montgomery GI Bill and continued to advance in his career, looking for more opportunities to help her go to college one day, too.

“My daughter is my driving force,” Vandine said. “She is my ‘why’ on the good days and the bad days. I always remember that everything I do is for her.”

Outside the realm of recruiting, Vandine enjoys coaching his daughter’s basketball team, volunteering at the local recreation center, exploring new foods, and traveling.
