Back to U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa

LIVINSTONE, Zambia — Amidst the backdrop of Zambia's scenic city of Livingstone, military planners from the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) and the Zambian Army gathered from the 22nd to the 26th of January for the mid-planning event of the highly anticipated African Land Forces Summit 24 (ALFS 24).

The summit, slated to be one of the most significant gatherings of military officials on the African continent this year, is set to take place in Livingstone from April 22-26, 2024.

With the theme "Regional Solutions to Transnational Problems,” ALFS 24 seeks to foster collaboration and coordination among African nations to address the diverse security challenges facing the continent. The mid-planning event brought together key stakeholders to assess progress, discuss logistics, and chart the course for the summit scheduled for April.

"We have made significant progress in our planning efforts," noted Lt. Col Robert Miller, international military engagements branch chief for SETAF and lead planner for ALFS. "With the professionalism and dedication of our fantastic Zambian co-hosts, ALFS 24 promises to continue to be a marquee security cooperation conference held on the African continent.”

African Land Forces Summit 24 is expected to draw military leaders and academics from across Africa, Europe, and North America. It will serve as a platform for strategic discussions and collaborative efforts to address the complex security challenges facing Africa.

The spotlight now shifts to the final preparations for ALFS 24.
