FORT RUCKER, Ala.--Customers purchasing travel packages through Information, Ticketing and Reservations (ITR) here can do so knowing they are giving more funds back to the community than any other Army post.

According to ITR Program Manager Kristen Hartwell, the office here earned the biggest commission for fiscal year 2009, selling more cruises, tickets and trips than any other ITR office Armywide.

"It just shows how busy our base is," she said. "Location is huge for us. We have five or six ports a Soldier can drive to."

ITR profit is returned to Soldiers and their Families through Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs and facilities, Hartwell explained.

Travel clerk Jenn Bartlett agreed Fort Rucker's close proximity to Atlanta and Orlando, Fla., provides ample travel opportunities, thus boosting sales and her office's commission. She said she enjoys her job because she helps people plan their dream trips at an affordable price. "I just want to get Families the best rates possible," she said.

ITR has discounted tickets and trips year-round. Several facilities are close enough for Families to spend the weekend while others require more time to reach.

Atlanta's Six Flags Over Georgia offers active-duty Soldiers and up to two Family members free tickets for Sept. 26. Free entrance is available for all military branch members during other dates in September.

Free Walt Disney World tickets are available to active-duty and retired Soldiers through Dec. 23. Servicemembers may purchase up to five companion tickets for $99.

ITR is presenting three major tours in 2010, including Hawaiian Adventure, Feb. 25-March 6; Heritage of America, Oct. 8-17; and Europe's Christmas Markets, Dec. 2-10. An information slideshow explaining these tours will be conducted Monday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Bldg. 5700, Rm. 284. Bartlett said other tours are available for various locations and dates, for which ITR will help clients obtain military discounts.

All active-duty servicemembers, retirees and Department of Defense employees can use ITR services to book trips and buy tickets, according to Hartwell.
